2022.01.20 20:45 Col_Korn22 How has the Monty Hall problem played out in practice?

The Monty Hall problem: You're a game show contestant and you have three doors to pick from: Door A, Door B, and Door C. If you pick the one "correct" door, you win a car. If you pick either of the two "incorrect" doors, you win a goat. No clues are given before your first guess. You pick Door A. After you guess Door A, the host tells you that Door C is incorrect, and then gives you the option to switch to Door B. Do you switch to Door B or do you keep Door A?
In theory, switching doors should be your best bet.
If you had Doors A through Z to pick from, and 24 of them were eliminated after your first guess, then of course you would switch your guess. The likelihood of guessing correctly on your first try VS your second would be SUBSTANTIALLY DIFFERENT. Monty Hall only has only three doors though, so the difference in probability is not nearly that big.
Since probability does not remember, I wonder how this would play out in a large sample.
I feel confident that people who keep their original guess would not have a significantly higher success rate, but I'm not convinced that the group to switch would have one either.
If you had 1000 contestants, 500 of them chose to switch their guess, and 500 chose to keep their guess, how would the success rate change between the two groups? I'm sure people have run experiments like that. How has it played out in practice?
This is akin to how you can flip a coin a thousand times, but the head-to-tail ratio might not be 500-500. If you roll a dice 1000 times, you will probably roll a 1 much fewer than 500 times.
In terms that a layman would understand, please send me a practical example of how this has played out in practice. Tons of research papers and even phd dissertations have been written on this, but they're all Greek to me.

I am very passionate about this sport and I wonder if it is possible to make a living from judo, especially from its competitive aspect. Especially in Belgium, would it be interesting to live from that by going abroad for example? And is a judo teacher a viable job?

2022.01.20 20:45 DadJeansAndJokes 44/M Looking For That Friend I Truly Connect With

I find myself without any depth or excitement and I feel like someone out there feels the same as me. Are you in need of a friend or confidant? Someone light-hearted and funny? Someone who knows the difference between there, their, and they're?
About me:
married, kid, the whole deal. Positive, thoughtful, respectful.
In shape, attractive, and have my hair.
Great career, educated, and well traveled.
Home life is fine; not looking for a life raft or escape route.
Want to find a friend, someone to talk with regularly and, if the feeling is right, meet.
Into outdoors stuff (for real), gardening, travel, philosophy, college football. I love to learn and try new things...
Only want one friend. As Ron Swanson said "Don't half-ass two things; whole-ass one thing."
About you:
Married/attached or single woman preferred, sorry guys had too many weird responses/disrespectful ones on here from guys.
Have a tendency towards the bright side. Don't have to be bubbly, but just don't be a downer.
Have interests too! They don't have to match mine but I love to learn from others' interests.
Thank you for reading and hit me up if you'd like to connect!

2022.01.20 20:45 reefthrowaway Is a 3x2x2 still good enough if I can't find a 4x2x2?

Exactly as the title says, I can't find any used 4x2x2 but I found a couple 3x2x2 and was hoping that full grown ball pythons would still be happy and healthy assuming the rest of my husbandry was on point, including clutter like leaf litter and climbing spots. Thanks for the advice!

2022.01.20 20:45 G-Labz $GZD Research Report - copper and cobalt in south BC

I just came across this analyst report, and tbh I’ve been eyeing this stock for a few days now. It’s gone up 50% in the past 3 days, and for good reason.
https://www.tsxvresearch.com/research/gzd-cobalt-copper-tsxv/
The bet here is a very logical one: i.e. EVs are going to be the future. Why is this logical? For a number of reasons, the most important of which is governments have mandated this. Canada, for example, has 2035 as a mandatory date for all new cars and passenger trucks to be zero-emission.
Okay, so if we assume EVs are the future, how do we make money from this? You buy the components necessary for EVs. You can bet all day long TSLA, but the odds of TSLA going from $1000 to $2000 in 2-3 months are 0. This is where penny stocks come in.
2 imperative components in the construction of EVs are Cobalt and Copper. Have a look at the prices of both:
Cobalt prices: https://tradingeconomics.com/commodity/cobalt
Copper prices: https://tradingeconomics.com/commodity/copper
Cobalt prices in particular has moved up substantially in 2021! This is because it is important for EV batteries because of its superior energy density. Also used in smartphones and laptops, but the reason for such a significant price rise is the demand in EVs, and the lack of supply. EVs suffer from lack of range, and energy density becomes all the more important.
Cobalt however has some ethical issues. These issues come from where the metal is sourced. 68% of the global Cobalt supply comes from the DRC. This means child labor, slave labor, basically blood cobalt. As a result there’s political pressure on the producers acquiring this metal, and a source of supply outside of the DRC becomes all the more important.
That’s where GZD comes in. They have Cobalt, and are located in Southern BC, Canada, right by the US border.
Now Copper is also really hot! It is hanging out near it’s all-time highs. This is also because of EVs. However, it’s used much more widely, and China has an insatiable demand for it right now. In any case, it’s pretty hard to go wrong with Copper given the much broader set of products that require it (including houses), and the fact that Goldman Sachs has called it “the new oil”. EVs use substantially more copper than ICE vehicles.
GZD is one of the few cobalt copper explorers on the TSXV that hasn’t seen the wave upward yet. It’s been flat, and these are bottom fishing prices!! We’ve seen small glimpses the past 2 days, and I think that’s because the word is catching on… but it’s still early days. Looking at their chart, aside from 2019, this stock has been between 9 c and 12 c.. so at 6 c it’s a dirt cheap bargain.
All in all, there’s simply no substitute for reading the full 15 page analyst report. You should do it if you're serious, but to summarize the research report estimates GZD to be at 15 c.
Given the demand for Cobalt and Copper, I’d say that’s a conservative estimate. Especially when you consider it’s on the same geological formation where there were past producing cobalt-copper mines. One of them still has economic grades of Cobalt.
Get in on this before it’s too late.
Thoughts?

2022.01.20 20:45 Inthelake456 Tele to PACU? new nurse

I have a year of experience on a tele step down floor. I got offered an interview at another facility’s PACU. I had recently talked to a nurse recruiter from the same facility that the interview offer came from that said I wouldn’t even be considered for that position with my level of experience and that they typically hire nurses with 3-4 years of ICU experience.
Is this typical? One of my preceptors went from tele to PACU at my current facility and loves it. The one I applied to is closer to home but is unfortunately rotating day/night (how often is night surgery a thing?)
Covid has be burned out and I need a change, have always been interested in pacu or OR.
Any advice?
