2022.01.24 16:08 MikaMeredith Secova Metals Corp ($SEK)
CSE: SEK OTC: SEKZF
Secova Metals Corp is an interesting mineral exploration company, they focus on undervalued projects in Canada. They own two properties, the Eagle River project, adjacent too and on trend to other gold projects in Windfall Lake district of Urban Barry in Quebec. They also own the Montauban gold project which they acquired recently from DNA Canada Inc. They trade at CAD$0.17 trading up almost 7% today, with a market cap of CAD$14.75 million
Covering 1846 hectares in Quebec, the property has been mined on and off between 1910 and 1990. They’ve invested over $9 million in developing the project, they have all the necessary infrastructure in place; 1.3 km long hydropower line, and a 16,000 sq ft milling facility and road access. They’ve also engaged a Montreal engineering firm to help with mill optimization requirements and to assist in identifying the necessary milling equipment required for commencement of commercial operation.
Previous operations at the property resulted in toxic residues piles, the company plans to reprocess the piles using modern milling techniques that will both remove gold and silver resources and cleanse the contaminated material, the cleansed materials can then be sold as concrete building blocks to the construction industry giving them another source of revenue.
Their claims cover 21,472 hectares in the Windfall Lake gold district. They have all the necessary permits necessary for beginning production at this property and with the infrastructure in place they only need to finish exploration to identify production targets. Last week they announced that they’ve mobilized a drill program consisting of 20 shallow drill holes to characterize the extent of overburden sand deposits and test the basal till layer that has been variably identified across the eastern part of the property. It’s a promising project because of the location, adjacent to and on trend to several gold projects in the Windfall district.
They’re pre revenue and their financials aren’t any real indication of the company’s valuation, I think their value lies in their huge land assets and in the near term in their Montauban project. They don’t need to mine anything or explore the project to realize value. The tailings left behind from old mining operations present huge potential value, in gold, silver and concrete building blocks once it is reprocessed using modern milling techniques. I think it’s a unique opportunity to invest in a mining company that doesn’t need to mine to produce gold and silver, especially a junior mining company like Secova.
Not financial advice, always do your own research.

2022.01.24 16:08 goonerfrog10 They call them the Badlands for a reason.
My wife, Anna, and I moved from a big city in Colorado to a very small town in South Dakota because she was offered a position in the National Parks Service which was a lifelong dream of hers. Apparently Parks people never lasted too long in the Badlands and it was a good place to cut your teeth. I married her knowing this is what she wanted to do, I am a teacher and for the most part it’s pretty easy to move from place to place and keep a job. Most states are reasonable about accepting your teaching certification from other states, it worked out for us.
The month leading up to our move was blissful. Anna had worked very hard in the local parks department in order to get this job, she had been unhappy for a while now but she understood the local parks job was a means to an end and she didn’t complain too much, but you her whole mood had changed when she got the new job. She was full of energy and life, she was spending whole days getting moving tasks done that most people absolutely dreaded and she did them with a skip in her step. I was still working until the week before we moved so I got to skip a lot of that stuff. I think back very fondly on that time leading up to the move because there was so much potential and anticipation for the life we had worked so hard to build. Then we got to the town.
Look, the Badlands are absolutely stunning in their own way. There are places in the national park where anyone would feel like they are on a different planet. Miles of plains with sprawling white painted mountains. When the clouds rolled in and the thunder cracked across the land it was a site I would be happy to take in even now if I ever cared to return. Which I don’t.
The town we’re in has a population of less than a thousand. There is one school that serves all grade levels if you taught a subject, you taught it to 6th through 12th graders, there was one elementary teacher for each grade level before that. Staff and faculty stood at a grand total of 20, I was 21. The assistant principle, Ms. Kavish, had also been teaching English for the last 6 months after the unexpected death of the last English teacher. She said I was a “Godsend” as she was more of a math person herself and couldn’t stand reading Hemmingway or Faulkner, I told her I wasn’t a fan of Fibonacci which went over like a led balloon.
The kids all thought I was a Native American, most people with my skin color in that part of the country are. When I told them I was Hispanic I got a lot of questions about Mexico which I couldn’t really answer seeing as I am 3rd generation American but it ended up being a good ice breaker. Some of my classes only had 5 kids so it was important to establish our relationship on the right foot. You underestimate how lonely you can get in a new town away from your people. You think your spouse will be enough company until you meet people but it gets very lonely very quickly when your wife works long into the evening and you’re up at 6 the next morning. It helped to have the interactions at school, and then the day came where I had an evaluation with the school’s principle, Mr. Lucas. It was pleasant enough, he gave me a stellar evaluation, told me the kids are happy to have me. He invited Anna and I to dinner with his wife and some friends, told me it was a good way to start making friends ourselves, start planting some roots in the community. I didn’t have the heart to tell him Anna planned to start putting in applications elsewhere the second she felt she had established herself as the valuable asset she was. Then the conversation took a strange turn.
“I’m sure somebody has told you by now, but make sure you stay inside on the 21st of the month. And then again in December and then again in March, and one more time in June.”
“Actually this is the first I’m hearing about this. Maybe someone told Anna and she hasn’t told me yet. Is there a particular reason why?” He looked at me with a mix of concern and surprise.
“Well by god I’m glad I brought it up to ya. We really should have a pamphlet or something we give to people that move here. It’s more of a tradition than anything else. It’s a long standing tradition here that we keep the solstice sacred. It comes from a local tribe’s beliefs that on each solstice the spirits of the departed walk the land to bring in the new season. They cleanse the old and lay foundations for the new. It seems silly but we take it very seriously. There are a handful of people that have been here their whole lives that are allowed to walk to the streets and welcome the spirits, but everyone else stays inside out of respect. We close the blinds and the curtains, we spend time inside with our families it’s actually very nice.”
“Umm. Ok. I absolutely want to respect your traditions, my wife will be happy to as well but what if we need to get to the pharmacy or something? What if we have an emergency?”
He paused for a second. I can see he was struggling a little bit with the question, I’m positive he was not usually the person that informed newcomers about this tradition and was ill prepared.
“Look I’m going to give you my cell number. If you need anything that night you call me and we’ll get one of the welcomers to help you out. But you’ve got plenty of time to prepare, gather what you need. The first time may be a little strange but you’ll grow to enjoy it after a while.”
“Ok thank you sir. We’ll make sure to stay inside.”
“And don’t look outside.”
“Don’t go outside, don’t look outside.”
“Of course. Got it. Thank you.”
I told Anna about the conversation when we got home. She apologized profusely and told me her boss had told her about the tradition and it had slipped her mind to tell me. I said it was fine, it just threw me off the way Mr. Lucas had sprung it on me. She explained to me that her boss had told her the story very differently and it sounded like a beautiful Native American tradition that the townsfolk continued to honor. She told me she would make breakfast for dinner on the night of the solstice, and we could watch horror movies. Horror movies and breakfast for dinner was big reason I fell in love with Anna in the first place and so it put my mind at ease. Maybe this was going to be fun.
The solstice fell on a Friday and there was a different energy in the air at school. The kids talked to me about the different traditions they had for the “lock in” with their families. I heard stories of board games, and movie nights, story telling, and playing music. They all seemed excited by it. I started to get excited too and then I asked a question I still regret asking even now.
“You guys have never thought about looking outside?” The class froze and stared at me.
“You don’t wanna do that, sir.”
“Bad things happen to people that don’t follow the lock in rules.”
“What kind of bad things?” I couldn’t just drop it.
“Well Ms. Stein, she was our last English teacher she…”
“Shut up, David. You’re not supposed to talk about it.” One of the girls in class scolded David, a favorite student of mine, then came after me.
“Look, sir, just don’t do it, okay? We don’t ask questions about it, we don’t bother people about it, we just don’t do it. It’s four nights out the year, just try to enjoy it.”
“I’m sorry, Layla, I didn’t mean to upset you.”
“I’m not upset. Just follow the lock in rules, okay?”
When I got home after school Anna was already there and getting our movie night ready. This was a change from her getting home 30 minutes before I needed to be in bed. We were going to watch John Carpenter’s The Thing. Quite appropriate for a night inside in isolation. I just couldn’t stop thinking about the interactions I had with the townspeople about the night. I was the type of person that desperately wanted to do things when people told me not to do them. Small things of course. Don’t open that door, don’t drink at the family Christmas party, stop smoking weed in the house, I had to do them once someone told me not to. So after the sun had gone down and we had our breakfast dinner. I told Anna I was going to use the restroom before the movie. I went upstairs and in a moment of weakness I went to the window and I looked outside.
It only took me a few seconds to regret it. What I saw outside was a person in a bird mask, standing very still in a long brown robe, looked like it was made out of berlap. Their head was pointed directly to where I was standing. Outside of every house was the same thing. But instead of staring at the houses in front of them, they all started turning their heads to me. I felt my heart sink down into my stomach. I was frozen in fear, I was entranced by the harrowing nature of what I saw below me. I shut the curtain and I headed downstairs. Anna was already on the couch and I sat next to her.
“What exactly did your boss tell you about this lock in thing?”
“It’s called the four festivals of cleansing. The native people here belonged to a tribe that served four primary gods. These gods only asked for small sacrifices and displays of obedience in exchange for their plentiful bounty. Instead of big sacrifices or constant praying, the gods asked them to shield their eyes from the outside world so that the gods may do their work in changing the seasons and carrying the lost souls from the season to the afterlife with them. Cool right?”
“Yeah it’s pretty cool. And what did they say happens to the people who don’t obey the gods?”
“He didn’t really get into it. Just said that bad things happen to them. I guess they gotta keep that part in for the unruly kids and all that.”
That was an hour ago. Since then the knocking started. First on the door, and then on the windows and even the roof. Anna couldn’t take it anymore even when I tried to explain what I had done and she looked out of one of the windows too. She screamed and now she’s next to me crying. I just hope this gets to our families so they have some kind of answer. I have feeling it won’t.

2022.01.24 16:08 Dishbird Recommendations for play mats?
I am an owner of a FLGS who is hosting 40K tournaments for the first time. We bought 3 mats from Frontline Gaming already but will need more as we attempt to host larger events.
Are FLG's play mats the cheapest neoprene ones? Are they the best for the money? I've done a little looking and haven't found any that seem better, but was curious if anyone has found ones of a similar quality for a lower price. Thanks in advance for your help!

2022.01.24 16:08 ImSpray Is 'losers queue' a real thing? I feel helpless
As the title says, I haven't played in about 2 years so I'm finding it very hard to play. I peaked at around plat3 and I'm currently about 50 games in but after getting to gold1 it feels like I just get the worse team every game.
Now I'm not saying I'm perfect I make mistakes hell I'm even the reason we lose sometimes but I recently got promoted to gold1 and was on my way to plat. However all of a sudden 6 games in a row I just get, well, the worse team. I'm the only lane that wins or atleast goes neutral and my team either lose or straight up troll. Out of my last 5 losses 3 of those games had a blatant troll (2 of them being a hecarim which is a funny coincidence).
It just feels like every game I win or neutral lane and even give my other lanes a lead but it doesn't matter.
Is losers queue a real thing or am I just super unlucky?

2022.01.24 16:08 Reasonably_Crazy1302 Tapering off 75mg
I’ve been on Effexor for a total of 4 weeks, yesterday was the first day of the 5th week and my doctor and I decided that coming off of it as trial and error to see if the nausea goes away will be best. I have only been on 75mg for a week and a half and this is my tapering schedule…
Down to 37.5mg now for 3 days
Then 37.5mg every other day for 3 days
Then off of it completely
Has anyone in this sub experienced this taper? Or anything similar? I haven’t been on Effexor for too long so I’m hoping that I’ll get away with minimal withdrawal
